The KZ ZEX has a unique driver configuration and combination, with one 6.8mm electrostatic driver and one 10mm dual magnetic dynamic driver delivering professional-grade sound. The high- and ultra-high-frequency reproduction is handled by the low-voltage electrostatic driver, while the mid and low-frequency reproduction is handled by the dual magnetic dynamic driver. The additional dynamic driver has a stronger magnetic force than a conventional dynamic driver, allowing a more balanced sound distribution. The electrostatic driver provides considerably more consistent transmission and excellent reproduction.

When comparing the KZ ZEX’s electrostatic driver to a balanced armature driver, the low-voltage electrostatic driver, especially electrets, produces less distortion and is easier to drive. Low-voltage electrostatic technology’s performance, quality, and consistency are far more consistent than dynamic and balanced armatures.
